How to tame the tiger and run the Marathon – EMBA Guest Lecture in Thun
On February 24, the last course day in Thun with EMBA class 23, we invited Bernhard Vögeli, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Tavis Capital AG and Head of Operations at Evolution Equity Partners, to share his experience of both successes and failures as an entrepreneur and investor.
Bernhard gave practical advice on how to write up a good business plan, pitch to investors and secure capital; provided an overview on different sources of capital and their pros and cons; explained the exit, the cost of capital and incentives from an investor’s perspective. Furthermore, he highlighted the opportunity of succession planning and a management buy-in financed by debt.
As a passionate runner, Bernhard compares starting a company to riding a wild tiger, and building an enterprise to running a marathon. The key factor for success, however, are people and incentives.
