Christian von Olnhausen completed the CAS Business Transformation and shares how the concept of Transformational Leadership resonated with him.

At TEACHY, we believe education should be personal, empowering and built for the future. We’re rethinking how tutoring works by focusing on meaningful, one-on-one learning experiences that truly support each student’s growth. But to build a company that transforms education, we first needed to transform how we lead.

During my CAS Business Transformation, I was introduced to the concept of Transformational Leadership – a leadership style centered around trust, vision and personal development. It resonated deeply with me. I realized that if we want to inspire learners, we must also inspire our team. That was the turning point for our leadership culture at TEACHY.

The first step was shifting from control to trust. I moved away from micromanaging and started focusing on empowering others. I began asking more questions instead of giving answers, creating space for the team to grow, take ownership and bring in their own ideas. It wasn’t always easy – but it was worth it.

We introduced regular development talks, not formal performance reviews, but open, forward-looking conversations about personal goals, strengths and values. These sessions quickly became one of the most impactful tools for fostering growth and building genuine connection within the team.

Another key change was leading through inspiration, not instruction. We started sharing “Why Moments” – real stories from our work that remind us why we do what we do. Whether it’s a student breakthrough or a tutor who went the extra mile, these moments help connect us emotionally to our mission and to each other.

Today, TEACHY is not just a place where students thrive – it’s also a space where people feel seen, challenged and inspired. Our team isn’t just executing tasks, they’re helping shape the future of education, every single day.

Transformational Leadership isn’t a quick fix. It’s an ongoing journey. But looking back, I can say with certainty: it was one of the most meaningful shifts we’ve made as a company. And it continues to shape who we are becoming.
